Perialwar was born at Srivilliputhur. Perialwar's childhood name was Vichnuchitta.  The verses of alwars are complied as Nalayira Divya Prabandham and the 108 temples revered are classified as Divya Desam. Perialwar died at Kallazhagar Temple.

Swami Vedanta Desikan was born at Kanchipuram. Swami Vedanta Desikan's childhood name was Venkatanathan.  On the 750th anniversary of Vedanta Desikan, the Indian postal stamp department unveiled a stamp. The stamp was unveiled by Sri Venkaiah Naidu, Vice President of India in May 2019. Swami Vedanta Desikan is considered to be the avatar of Venkateshwara of Tirumalai.
